The AHAPC's communication and leadership role in building partnerships and coordinating information on the Alaska Highway gas pipeline project in the Yukon has prompted the development of a one-stop library portal.

The Alaska Highway Aboriginal Pipeline Coalition (AHAPC) helps empower First Nations with knowledge and understanding of the proposed Alaska Highway gas pipeline project so each First Nation will be able to fully participate in and make informed decisions about the project. To help in accomplishing this objective the Yukon Territorial Government (YTG) has been a strong supporter of AHAPC since its inception in 2004.

Each year the AHAPC and the YTG enter into a funding agreement for AHAPC administration and operations. AHAPC receives $200,000 annually from YTG. The agreement funds the administration and office expenses, the communication flow to FN communities and research and assessment of proposals on the proposed construction of the natural gas pipeline along the Alaska Highway route. The agreement also outlines the deliverables AHAPC will implement and accomplish with the funding.
